Gene A. Tyler Thursday, June 3, 1948 - Monday, July 31, 2017

On June 3, 1948, in Turrell, Arkansas, a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jessie James and Emma Victoria (Glover) Tyler, Sr. The proud parents named their son Gene Autry Tyler. The family moved to Blytheville, Arkansas where Gene attended Elm Street Elementary School and graduated from Harrison High School. Gene received his B.A. in HPE from Paul Quinn College in Waco, Texas. He then moved to Dallas, Texas where he joined the Dallas Fire Department and later earned his Texas Teacher’s Certification in both High School English and HPE.

Gene was awarded numerous certifications of achievement in both academics and community civic services, while at the same time accepting the call by God on his life into the gospel ministry. The ministry that God called him to was not glamorous or popular, but instead were hospital, jail and prison ministries, which nevertheless required laborers to go willingly into the vineyard and work.

In 2007, Gene moved to Kansas City, Missouri and continued his work in the ministry by enrolling in Western Bible College and earning a Bachelor of Religious Studies degree. He then went on to earn his Master of Religious Studies degree.

Gene A. Tyler departed this earthly life on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse J. and Emma V. (Glover) Tyler; brothers, Joe R. Tyler, James E. Tyler, Odell D. Tyler, Jesse J. Tyler III and Ernest Tyler; sister, Curly M. Jones Tyler (Joseph).

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife Verline (Barber) Tyler; son, Jason Tyler; daughter, Eleanor White; grandchildren, Ezebella Tyler and Sarah Tyler all of Dallas, TX; siblings, Jessie J. Tyler, Jr., Henry F. Tyler, Sr. (Mary L.), Wayne Tyler (Marie), Herman L. Tyler, Sr. (Juanita L.), Hubert E. Tyler (Rhonda Sims), Erma J.
